Billy Loughnane was crowned champion jockey on Champions Day at Ascot recently, and few can argue that Billy The Kid rightfully deserves to take all the plaudits on what has been a remarkable season for the Irishman.

At the time of writing, the youngster has ridden a phenomenal 224 winners over the course of the year, with 159 winners in the jockeys championship, 24 ahead of last years champion Oisin Murphy.

Ever since he took his first steps into professional race riding as a 16-year-old rookie, he has been touted as a future champion. It has always been the case of when as opposed to if he would be champion jockey.
