Chosen Hero scored on her very first start for trainer James Owen, ending a losing run that stretched back to January 2024.

The eight-year-old had been pulled up on her last three starts when trained by Lizzie Quinlan but having changed hands for only £5,000 at the Goffs UK Spring Sale in May, looks a revitalised horse under Owen.

Under Jonathan Burke, the mare was always travelling well and went on to win by two lengths.

"Her early form was strong, but I suppose she's been lost for a while," Burke said. "James has done a great job and this was a nice spot for her.
